Lile Stephens: Synesthesia

Exhibition Image

Sep 2, 2016 - Oct 1, 2016

Synesthesia is a sensory condition through which the stimulation of one sense involuntarily triggers the perception of another sense. The resulting cognitive associations can manifest in unpredictable ways--one of the most common reported synesthetic experiences is the association of color with specific sounds and tones. For this project, I have created a space filled with textures of light and shadow, an environment for experiencing a crude approximation of this condition, which is mediated by the simplicity of analog circuitry.
